The New York Yankees seem open to another addition.

New York had an underwhelming 2023 campaign and responded in a major way by adding Juan Soto and Marcus Stroman along with a few other players.

The Yankees are in a solid spot and should be considered one of the top teams in the American League. While this is the case, New York still could use another addition. The Baltimore Orioles are seen as the favorites in the American League East and seem to be in a better spot than New York.

New York could use another starting pitcher, and some solid players are still available through free agency and in the trade market. Landing a free agent may make more sense for the Yankees right now because it sounds like they aren’t willing to trade top prospect Spencer Jones in a blockbuster deal for a starter, according to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman.

“The Yankees are talking about starters but aren’t desperate enough to overpay (i.e. trade top-prospect Spencer Jones),” Heyman said.

Jones has been mentioned in trade rumors a few times throughout the offseason but nothing seemingly got close. The top hurlers that still could be traded are Dylan Cease and Shane Bieber but it would be surprising if the club could get a deal done without Jones.

New York still could use another starter and a few free agents available who could make some sense are Mike Clevinger, Hyun-Jin Ryu, and Zack Greinke.

What is the Yankees’ next move?
