Gathering a “brilliant” cast including Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell or Samuel L. Jackson, the shining star of Argylle Super Spy (Vietnamese title: Argylle) is an unexpected face.

The Hollywood spy action film from director Matthew Vaughn welcomes the cooperation of a name that is very young and cannot speak but the most “occupying the airwaves”.

Argylle Super Spy revolves around the adventures of writer Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard) when the details of the detective novel she wrote coincide strangely with real-life episodes.

Accompanying Elly are spy Aidan (Sam Rockwell) and the cat Alfie. The irony is that the ailing Aidan is allergic to cats and Elly can’t go anywhere without her “majesty” accompanying her.

And so Alfie is dragged into a reluctant spring trip in a spaceflight backpack. Director Matthew Vaughn said: “In the first draft of the script, the cat Alfie only appeared once and Elly embarked on her adventure, leaving the cat behind.

I realized that we needed the cat to join her to add to the conflict and tension that fueled the film. I was inspired by my children, who showed me a documentary about Taylor Swift that featured Taylor wearing a cat bag.

I have memorized that when the time comes, I can apply this idea. Then, to my surprise, my wife brought home kittens, one of which we named Chip. Since I’m not particularly fond of cats, it took me a while to adapt.”

Playing Alfie is the family-owned cat Chip, director Matthew Vaughn and supermodel Claudia Schiffer. The filmmaker said Chip wasn’t actually the first choice. The cat was “summoned” after the four-legged actor initially appeared uncooperative on set:

“The first cat turned out to be very expensive and expensive so we had to find a replacement face. Actually, it’s my daughter’s cat, but you’ll see headlines saying it’s my wife’s cat. I went up to my daughter’s room and said, “Lend me Chip for three months.”

Vaughn admits he didn’t really think about casting Chip, as it meant the filmmaker had to take on both directing and “lotus” duties throughout the project. But in the end it was a worthwhile experience that turned Vaughn into a loving servant.

“It turned out to be the right thing because I was a dog lover at first but ended up loving cats. Gosh, you don’t want to off a cat. They have the right to decide whether they want to act or not.”

Despite being his first acting role and having no acting experience, Chip quickly showed his star qualities when he received a series of “servant” compliments: “Driving to the set with a cat in the car was an unusual experience and Chip lived in my trailer throughout filming.

Over time, the cat conquered me and his performance in the film was excellent. Chip became the perfect source of controversy between the characters, and surprisingly, he was charming, cheerful and photogenic.”

Actress Bryce Howard said of Matthew Vaughn’s bias towards this particular actor: “Matthew’s kids will treat him if the cat is okay.”

Baby “sucks on a golden spoon” Chip seems to be quite happy with his co-stars. Oscar owner Sam Rockwell humorously said Chip was “a nightmare”: “He was always standing in my frame, acting and asking for food, and then hiding in a trailer. If there’s a sequel, please don’t look me in the eye again.”

Chip also showed a chic demeanor when “criticizing” Henry Cavill in public. Henry Cavill, at the film’s London premiere press conference, wanted to pet Chip because they didn’t have much interaction time on set.

At the time, Chip was being carried by his co-star Bryce Dallas Howard, but when Henry reached out to rub his head, the actress warned: “Chip is fierce sometimes.” So Superman also gave in: “I think well, I should withdraw my hand before it’s not intact.”

ARGYLLE SUPER SPY (original title: ARGYLLE) is playing in theaters nationwide.
