For most of the world, the spotlight of Hollywood shining on them might sound like a dream come true. However, for the stars already in it, the reality could be rather different.
That has been the case for many fan-favorite celebrities including former DC superhero, Henry Cavill. While he did not shoot to fame until 2013-16, after that, he could be recognized anywhere. That is when the now 40-year-old decided to share his actual thoughts on the unwanted attention he was getting.
Although most people would have loved it, for Cavill, being the center of attention seemed much more like a task rather than a choice.
Henry Cavill once opened up about how he felt being recognized in public
In 2017, Henry Cavill sat down with the New York Times for an interview. After shedding some light on his then-upcoming role in the Mission: Impossible franchise, he ended up discussing the cons of being a celebrity. The actor set the scene for the interviewer at a “pub” along with “your friends having some drinks.” However, he continued, “You keep on feeling like people are looking at you or checking their phones.”
While that might just have been in Cavill’s head, he added that was when “one person” would come up to him and ask to get a “photo.” Although it might be common for celebrities to be approached during a night out, the now 40-year-old claimed it would kickstart his “terror cells,” all because it was just “photo time.” It might be hard to understand why it was hard for such a beloved star to interact with his fans.
However, it might have had something to do with the fact that Cavill felt that he owed it to all the Superman fans in the world.
Henry Cavill’s self-imposed responsibility
2 years after Henry Cavill starred in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, the actor got candid about the responsibilities that came with the role of Superman. In another interview, he opened up about how portraying the character affected the way he behaved in public. The actor revealed that it had given him anxiety and body image issues over the years, as he believed fans would want to see their favorite star in peak superhero form.
While the whole thing might have taken quite a toll on Cavill, those days seem to finally be behind him. After all, with the actor moving on to newer roles and different projects, the world might get to see him try out some brand new looks apart from his recent transformation for Argylle.
