Colman Domingo Being Eyed to Replace Jonathan Majors as Kang

According to new reports, Marvel wants Colman Domingo as the new Kang

Jonathan Majors‘ exit from the MCU put a big dent to the studio’s plans of making Majors an intimidating force as Kang in the franchise’s future. The actor has always given his best in playing Kang or his variants, but the overall characterization failed to impress audiences. With Majors’ exit, it looked like the MCU was moving on from Kang.

However, popular scooper Daniel Richtman (via The Hollywood Handle) has posited that the studio is eyeing Colman Domingo to replace Majors as Kang. Audiences expressed their opinions about this and most agreed that the actor would be a great fit for the character. Here are some of the reactions,

The replacement wouldn’t cause any confusion as Kang has an unlimited number of variants across the multiverse. Audiences have already seen the same character played by different actors in the same scene (for example, Spider-Man: No Way Home) and if Domingo took over as Kang, audiences would certainly get it.

Colman Domingo Finds The Human Element in Every Character He Plays

Colman Domingo in The Color Purple

Colman Domingo most recently played Albert ‘Mister’ Johnson in the latest rendition of Alice Walker’s novel The Color Purple. The character is an abusive and cruel individual who is harsh on his wife, Celie. Domingo talked about playing such a character and the importance of finding the humanity in every character he plays, He told Wabe,

“It’s very important to me, especially with these men that I create, to show their humanity even if they are doing horrific things. It was important to find in this version of ‘The Color Purple,’ to find how hurt he was, not only by the world. ‘Why do hurt people hurt people?’ was a major question for me.That’s the only way I can find the heart and soul of someone doing villainous acts. I don’t look at them as a villain, I look at them as doing villainous acts, and usually villainous acts are done because there’s been harm done to them.”

Domingo received overwhelming praise for his performance and the film itself was very well received by audiences. The actor is now a major awards contender for his 2023 releases and he has already been nominated for Best Actor at the upcoming Golden Globes for Rustin.
