BURBANK, Calif. (WKRC) – A big name in past DC Studios media might be crossing enemy lines.

Rumors have been circulating for years about Cavill joining the MCU, especially since leaving DC.

While Marvel has not confirmed anything, Hollywood tipsters are saying he has already accepted a role.

After the studio announced some of the main cast of its highly-anticipated new “Fantastic Four” film, fans speculated Cavill could be going from hero to villain.

Reports and posts on social media suggest Cavill may have been cast as supervillain Dr. Doom, or as one of the X-Men characters in a different movie.

However, others say he’s likely to be the one to make comic book superhero Captain Britain’s film debut, since Cavill himself has said he would be thrilled to do it.

“I’m never going to say a Marvel character that is already being played by someone else, because everyone’s doing such an amazing job,” he said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “However, I have the internet and I have seen the various rumors about Captain Britain and that would be loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version of that — like the way they modernized Captain America. There’s something fun about that, and I do love being British.”

One frequent informant posted on X that Cavill won’t be playing Dr. Doom, but also made a cryptic follow-up post saying some fans have guessed his role correctly.
