Two New York Yankees sluggers have been named favorites for the MVP in 2024.

The New York Yankees enter Spring Training with high hopes. After a disappointing season in 2023, the expectation is for them to be the Yankees of the past and compete for a World Series.

How can they complete that task?

By staying healthy and having their top players perform at the level they’re expected to.

With the addition of Juan Soto to a lineup that already featured one of the best players in baseball, Aaron Judge, New York should be improved offensively this season.

According to MLB.com, these sluggers are two of the MVP favorites for the 2024 season, ranking Soto No. 2 and Judge No. 4.

That’s not a surprise as Judge already has an MVP under his belt and there’s a real argument that he should have two. Soto hasn’t won an MVP yet, but it’s the last major award he can win. He has two top-five finishes and a top-six finish in his six-year career.

With Shohei Ohtani out of the American League, the opportunity to win the MVP is wide open. MLB.com writes that Soto’s playing in his contract year and how he has risen to the occasion in the past.

That shouldn’t be any different as he feels the most pressure of his career in Yankee Stadium.

Judge is nearly guaranteed to finish in the top five unless he deals with another injury. He played just 106 games last season due to his toe injury, but still managed to hit 37 home runs and slash .267/.406/.613.

There are no excuses for New York this season. They have the stars to win a World Series and now it’s fully on them to finish the job.
