ACTING icon Zac Efron has been at the centre of dating rumors since his illustrious career started when he was just a teenager.

Despite still not finding the love of his life, the 36-year-old remains one of Hollywood’s biggest heartthrobs as he continues his quest to find the Gabriela to his Troy Bolton.

Zac’s most high-profile relationship was with his High School Musical sweetheart Vanessa Hudgens.

The pair fell in love in 2005 when they were just 17-years-old after playing a pair of loved up students in the ultra successful musical film.

After a happy five years together, the actors couldn’t keep up with their fictional power couple personas Troy Bolton and Gabriela Montez and split in 2010.

A source at the time said the split was amicable saying: “They have been together for so long. It just ran its course.”

They remained friends for a few years afterwards with both giving positive updates on their friendships but as both moved on they drifted apart and lost contact.

After a two year hiatus on the Hollywood dating scene, Efron popped up in a casual fling with Lily Collins in 2012.

Despite the whirlwind romance they could only manage a short three month stay together before they called it quits.

An insider explained: “They’re no longer together. They were never serious, though; it was just a casual thing and it fizzled. They were never in the same place at the same time.”

The pair would reunite seven years later however when they both starred in 2019’s Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile – a biopic on serial killer Ted Bundy.

Zac has a theme of dating his co-stars and back in 2014 he was reported as getting together with Neighbours pal Halston Sage.

A source told E! News that the two were “definitely an item” and “he’s really good to her”.

Zac was even seen referring to Halston as a “sweetheart” before the pair were snapped court-side at a Los Angeles Lakers game giggling and laughing with each other.

Sami Miró

Model and designer Sami Miró was next up for Zac when the pair settled down together in October 2014.

For Sami this new relationship with one of Hollywood’s biggest names was a bit of a shock.

She told Elle: “It’s definitely different,” being his girlfriend.

The pair dated for two years before Zac called it a day after the flame had run its course.

According to E!, they “did not have the same feelings for each other as they did when they first started dating.”

Dating rumors started to swirl between Zac and Alexandra Daddario in 2017 because – to no ones great surprise – the pair were filming the movie Baywatch together.

Alexandra wasn’t best pleased when the rumors started to ramp up as she was heard saying: “We work together closely; he’s my love interest in the film. I understand why people would go crazy over something like that, but Zac and I are very good friends.”

However a source said they had been “on and off since their time working together on the movie.”

And they were spotted walking their dogs together in L.A. in March 2018, and appeared to still be on good terms in the months following that.

Sarah Bro

Zac and Sarah were never officially together but many believed they were after the pair were spotted on a trip of massive sporting events in L.A. in 2019.

The Olympic swimmer from Denmark went to watch a UFC event with the heartthrob before being seen at the same Los Angeles Kings hockey game together.

A photographer caught the duo leaving the arena together fuelling the romance rumors.

The break-up comes after Zac, 33, had to relocate from Byron Bay to Adelaide to shoot his latest film, Gold.

The locations are nearly 1,000 miles apart, with flights between them taking two-and-a-half hours.

The couple had even planned to buy a home together Down Under, but the A-lister’s work commitments have scuppered their romance.

A source told us: “Zac and Vanessa looked like the real deal. They were besotted with each other.

“So once he decided to stay in Australia long term, he suggested they buy their first home.

“They’d started to look at a few places but, sadly, fate wasn’t on their side. Zac’s work and the ­­enforced distance has really taken its toll.”

“My dad always taught me to be driven. I was always the shortest kid at school. Always the worst kid on the team. I’d come home after practice and my dad would build a basketball hoop.

“Then we’d go out and shoot 100 free throws. Pretty soon every time I got fouled I would make my free throws.”
