Jennifer Lopez, or J.Lo, has earned a passionate fandom through not only her music but through her career as an actress too.

Her performance in the 2019 crime-comedy Hustlers earned her critical acclaim, and earlier in her life, she starred in everything from the creature feature Anaconda to the soppy rom-com Maid In Manhattan.

To celebrate the release of her eleventh studio album, This Is Me… Now, we’ve all been invited to witness a movie that blends sci-fi and fantasy, and delivers an unforgettable Ben Affleck cameo.

This Is Me…Now: A Love Story movie is wild

This Is Me…Now: A Love Story is a 2024 movie musical released as a visual companion to the latest Jennifer Lopez album This Is Me…Now.

It was released exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, February 16th 2024, dropping the same day as the album.

Described by Prime Video as being “like nothing you’ve ever seen,” I’d have to agree.

This “narrative-driven cinematic musical odyssey,” marks a bold collaboration with music video director Dave Meyers to capture a surreal and imaginative tale of J.Lo’s journey to love, as told by the star herself.

The larger-than-life experience blends music and genre-hybrid visuals to create a cinematic spectacle that offers no easy comparison to anything else. It boasts cameos from the likes of Post Malone, and just when you think it can’t get any weirder, Ben Affleck changes your mind.

This Is Me…Now: A Love Story Ben Affleck cameo

As the film’s end looms, there’s a sneaky shot of Ben, J.Lo’s husband and actor, although just of his chin. However, don’t let that fool you.

A post-credits scene has Ben playing a newsreader named Rex Stone, donning long hair and looking basically unrecognizable.

“Loving yourself means never having to say ‘I’m lonely,’” he says on a live newscast in a voice so different from what you’d expect. “It means old Rexy can go down to the lobby bar, order the oysters and a club soda and go to bed smiling, even though the waitress was [as] mean as a diabetic honey badger. Because only you can let the love in your heart die, and you should never let it die.”

It’s a surreal note to end on in a film practically filled with them, so it doesn’t feel too out of step.

All the same, audiences are already in shock. “LMAO Ben Affleck is the news announcer,” one viewer tweeted in surprise, another writing, “Not Ben Affleck as the news reporter that kinda looks like Trump.”

“Legitimately gasped during the end credits of This Is Me…Now,” another admitted. “Did not recognize Ben Affleck at all.”

Parodying the famous monologue in the sci-fi movie Blade Runner, one tweeted: “I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Ben Affleck in Joe Exotic/Trump drag. A giant steampunk heart powered by flower petals. Post Malone hitting on Jane Fonda. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. This is me…now.”
