The pop superstar told ‘Access Hollywood’ that the letter she burns in her upcoming visual album isn’t actually one from her husband.

After some fans speculated that the pop superstar, 54, burned an old love letter from her husband Ben Affleck in the teaser for her new visual album This Is Me… Now, she’s setting the record straight.
On the red carpet for the ELLE Women in Hollywood Awards on Tuesday, when Access Hollywood asked if the letter dated Dec. 24, 2002 and signed “B.” in the recent trailer was actually from their relationship — she was quick to shut it down.
“I would never burn one of his letters! Are you crazy?” she exclaimed, as if she was totally shocked.
The hitmaker clarified, “That was a prop! That was a prop!”

In the teaser, which dropped in late November when the singer/actress announced the Feb. 16 release date of her This Is Me… Now album and short film, she’s seen revisiting an old letter before tossing it into a fireplace.
Throughout the clip, Lopez narrates, “When I was a little girl, when someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answer was always… in love.”
Meanwhile, the note — dated Dec. 24, 2002 and signed “B.” — reads, “Life’s tough but you’re sweet. Thanks for the gift. Hope you like the flowers. You told me you could never have enough. I believe you.”
While speaking with Access Hollywood, the Shotgun Wedding actress revealed that she didn’t think the brief moment would garner such a reaction. She added, “You know, now I realize that I should’ve copied one of his letters and put it there because I didn’t realize people … it’s such a messy letter, I didn’t think anybody would delve into that.”
“Maybe I’ll change it for the movie,” she teased of the short film, which is due to hit streaming on Prime Video on Feb. 16 when the album is set for release.

Affleck, 51 — who she dated from 2002 to 2004 and rekindled a relationship with in 2021 — even collaborated with the “Let’s Get Loud” singer on the project. The Air star, along with Matt Walton, acted as a co-writer.
Lopez also shared that “it was amazing” working with her husband on the visual. She added, “I mean nobody knows me or my story better than him. He knew me then and he knows me now — this is me now.”

The Marry Me actress’ upcoming ninth studio album and first full-length release in nearly a decade is said to act as a follow-up to 2002’s This Is Me… Then, which explored her relationship with the actor/filmmaker at the time.
Its companion film, directed by Dave Meyers and co-written by Affleck and Walton, will serve as a “musical and visual reimagining of her publicly scrutinized love life,” according to a press release.
According to the official synopsis, “the film is an intimate, fantastical and narrative-driven reflection of her personal journey of self-healing and self-love.”
Fans can expect “an immersive world where music and visuals intertwine, revealing the challenges faced and the triumphs achieved,” as well as “transformation and vulnerability in every frame.”
