Jason Momoa says he’s content without a house — for now.

The Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom star, 44, opened up to PEOPLE about his housing situation and revealed that he hasn’t really had any time to settle down while “going movie to movie.”

“I’m just houseless. I’m not homeless,” Momoa joked to PEOPLE at an event for the documentary Common Ground at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills on Thursday night.

“I have a nice trailer,” he explained. “Everyone’s like, ‘Jason Momoa’s homeless.’ I’m like, ‘Relax. I got a f—— sleeping bag.’”

The actor, whose divorce from actress Lisa Bonet was finalized earlier this month previously told Entertainment Tonight that he didn’t have a home after their split. However, he said that despite being “on the road all the time,” he’s “doing fine.” He’s also booked and busy with films at the moment, but hopes to “slow down” eventually.

“I’ve never bought a house yet, so I’m excited to one day,” he admitted to PEOPLE.

The On the Roam star added that people will probably be amazed when they find out he actually purchased one: “Like ‘Jason Momoa bought a home. Holy s—. He’s got a pillow now.’”

For the moment, though, he said he’s embracing his thriving acting career and jet setting around the world to work on different film projects.

“I grew up not working that much,” said Momoa, who shot to fame after starring in Game of Thrones in 2011. “When the kids were young, it’s just hard getting jobs,” he added, referencing daughter Lola Iolani, 16, and son Nakoa-Wolf, 15, whom he shares with Bonet.

“Now that you’re working, you’re like, ‘Oh, I grew up in the Midwest, man.’ I just work and work and it feels weird not to work,” he continued. “And if you do what you love, then you’re like, ‘This is not work. I’m helping out with the movies that I really love.’”

The actor previously revealed in an interview with InStyle in November 2020 that he faced financial hardship following his appearance on Game of Thrones and that he struggled to pay the bills on the Los Angeles home he shared with Bonet.

“I mean, we were starving after Game of Thrones,” he recalled. “I couldn’t get work. It’s very challenging when you have babies and you’re completely in debt.”

He said that things began to look up after he was cast as Aquaman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice years later, which spun off several other roles. He also nabbed a starring role in Dune, alongside Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem. “I’m just like, ‘Oh my God. I can’t believe my name was with those names,’ ” he said after the trailer came out. “I feel like I’m still a kid, freaking out.”
