Henry Cavill will have to drop James Bond if he wants to join the MCU.

Henry Cavill’s presence seems wanted in every movie nowadays since he dropped from Netflix’s The Witcher. After his unfortunate exit as Superman from the DCEU, the actor has been rumored to appear in huge franchises such as James Bond and Marvel Studios.

As Cavill has been in the running to lead the upcoming James Bond movie, a new door of opportunity opened up for him after rumors of his casting in a Marvel role spread online. In fact, he has been eyed to play either of the two popular Marvel characters: Doctor Doom and Captain Britain.

Industry Insider May Have Confirmed Henry Cavill’s Real Marvel Role

With the latest report on his potential casting in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Henry Cavill may not have enough time to work on a James Bond film, let alone commit to a ten-year contract, so if the rumors are true, then he would have to let go of the British spy role.

The speculation began after industry insider MyTimeToShineHello contradicted a post revealing Cavill may be playing Doctor Doom. The original tweet stated:
“From the greatest superhero Superman, to our greatest Marvel villain Doctor Doom… Henry Cavill. Nah this would be the most insane casting announcement probably of all time #TheFantasticFour”

The scooper commented, “He was offered something else and he accepted” which raised assumptions that it could be Captain Britain. Later on, the source back-pedalled and said, “Actually, my bad, some of you guessed it right” which hints that Cavill might have actually accepted the role of Doctor Doom.

The Fantastic Four antagonist is rumored to replace Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror after the actor’s conviction following third-degree assault and harassment. As per Variety, “executives discussed backup plans, including pivoting to another comic book adversary, like Dr. Doom.”

This means Cavill will have a massive role in the MCU and fans will finally witness the actor unleash his villainous side. He’s no stranger to comic book movies, anyway, though it may cost him to lose the chance of becoming the next James Bond.

Argylle, the latest project from Henry Cavill, already showcased him as a spy but he does not think starring in an espionage film will entirely remove him from the list of potential James Bond actors. He confessed via Total Film, “Whether I’m ruled out of Bond because of this or not is up to Barbara Broccoli and Mr. Wilson.”

He never eagerly claimed to want the character, though he is not closing his doors if somehow it knocks in the future. He once told GQ, “If [Bond producer Barbara Broccoli] and [co-producer Michael G. Wilson] were interested in that, I would absolutely jump at the opportunity,” expressing his willingness to dive into the role.

Cavill once auditioned for the part of James Bond, but he lost to Daniel Craig. Now that he’s one of the actors leading the race, he might have to reconsider his chance at becoming the famed British spy if he plans to fully devote himself to joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
