Kit Harington earned in millions from Game Of Thrones and his fortune never saw a dip.

Kit Harington gained massive popularity at the age of 24 when he debuted as Jon Snow in HBO’s Game of Thrones. His penchant for giving away spoilers to get out of speeding tickets reflected his perceived immaturity. But as the series made him a literal star, Harington became one of the richest actors in television, being paid lump sums per episode.

The Eternals star did not have many acting credits to his name before he starred in HBO’s larger-than-life series. He made his professional acting debut in 2009 with the West End play War Horse. Harington bagged Game of Thrones right after graduating from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, too early in his career.

Since then, the fame and fortune that he received due to starring as Jon Snow has only seen an upward trend even after the series ended. His compelling performance as Jon “you-know-nothing” Snow showcased his range as an actor which brought him prestigious nominations, including Emmys and SAGs, and excellent offers for other projects.

Much like his Westeros brothers and sisters, Kit had a pretty important role in the show. This made the actor appear in almost every episode.

He successfully appeared in 32 episodes in the first three seasons, 9 out of 10 episodes in season 5, and 8 out of 10 in season 6. Kit also appeared in every episode in the last two seasons, and we know how that went for his character in the end!

While the opportunity to star in Game of Thrones was a jackpot for young Kit, the entire ordeal with popularity and fame after the show premiered was “a shock to the system.”

Recalling how his life changed, Harington once told PEOPLE that he struggled to adjust to being famous overnight. The actor recalled being in his “darkest period” when the show “seemed to become so much about Jon, when he died and came back.”

Harington also recalled having his friends around him who helped him remain grounded while he was being acclaimed as a global star. However, fame like that may often be a bane to mental well-being. While chatting in Apple’s The Official Game of Thrones podcast, Harington noted that he constantly reminded himself that Game of Thrones was “just a TV show.”

He stayed away from social media to protect his peace and eventually stopped reading what people had to comment about him.

During the podcast, Harington also noted how the overnight popularity at an early age made him wonder how to steer his career to the next level.

“You look for that thing your whole career as an actor. You look for that one thing that just goes big or that you’re known for… And if you have it in your twenties, you’re left going ‘oh, s**t, what do I do now?’,” he quipped.

Kit Harington has $14 million to his name and is the fifth-richest Game of Thrones star after Jason Momoa, Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

Momoa, who played Khal Drogo and Dinklage who was Tyrion Lannister, have $25 million to their names. The “mother of dragons” Daenerys Targaryen a.k.a Emilia Clarke has $20 million to her name while Coster-Waldau, who played Jaime Lannister has a net worth of $16 million.

Apart from Game of Thrones, Harington’s other big projects, which have contributed to his incredible net worth are Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Eternals (2021), How To Train Your Dragon film series (2014-2019), and Amazon Prime’s Modern Love (2019).

During the initial seasons of Game of Thrones, Harington was a fresh face and probably wasn’t paid that much. From seasons 1 to 4, the actor did not receive a hefty sum for each episode, but season 5 is where it changed for him.

According to Deadline, Harington, along with Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau negotiated a salary of $300,000 per episode. During seasons 7 and 8, the salary reportedly raised to a whopping $500,000 per episode.

Given Jon Snow’s pivotal role that only became more and more important as the series progressed, Harington rightly made approximately $6,500,000 in the last two seasons and more than $11,000,000 overall.

Kit Harington’s net worth may not be more than Clarke and the others mentioned, but he has definitely earned more than Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Richard Madden, Alfie Allen, and his wife, Rose Leslie. While Williams, Madden, and Allen have a net worth of $6 million each, Turner is at $8 million and Leslie is at $4 million.

What Is Kit Harington Doing Now?

Kit Harington has preferred living away from the spotlight after Game of Thrones concluded, but the actor has appeared in notable projects including Marvel’s Eternals and Amazon Prime’s Modern Love, both of which have helped him immensely to up his bank balance.

While Eternals grossed $402.1 million worldwide, Modern Love charted quite well for its star cast and realistic plot.

Around May 2022, it was announced that Kit Harington was cast in Mary’s Monster, a movie that will revolve around author Mary Shelley’s mental health struggles. Harington has appeared in the Apple TV+ anthology series Extrapolations, which starred Meryl Streep and Sienna Miller.

The actor also starred in the National Theater’s live production of Henry V. On Thrones (2022) for which he endured chilling winter shoots in Northern Ireland.

There were talks about Kit Harington starring in a Game of Thrones spin-off with Jon Snow as the titular character. However, neither Harington nor HBO commented on the same. In fact, the live-action spin-off is reportedly in its early developmental stages.

The series could also reportedly rope in other Game of Thrones actors including Maisie Williams, Sophie Turner, and Gwendoline Christie.
