After last year’s period drama Air, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are teaming once more for a new feature film titled Animals. Affleck will direct Damon in a new kidnapping thriller set to premiere on Netflix.

The two actors had previously starred together on Air, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video. The true-life story about the origin of the famous Air Jordan shoes featured the duo as Nike employees.

Ben Affleck to direct Matt Damon on new film Animals

The streaming service announced the new project Animals on social media and stated, “Longtime collaborators Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are teaming up once again. Affleck will direct Damon in the kidnapping thriller, Animals, for Netflix.”

The longtime friends are also co-producers on the project through their company Artists Equity with Dani Bernfeld. The thriller’s script was written by Connor McIntyre and revised by Billy Ray. Not much is known about the subject except that it revolves around a kidnapping.

Affleck and Damon’s many collaborations

Besides the Amazon Prime Video film Air, the two childhood friends have also worked together on films like School Ties, Good Will Hunting, Chasing Amy, Dogma, and The Last Duel among others. The duo first broke into Hollywood by writing the drama Good Will Hunting for which they won their first Oscars for Best Screenplay.

With the upcoming Animals, Affleck will once again be in the directing chair after Air. Animals is due to begin filming this year, however, Affleck is also scheduled to return to acting in The Accountant sequel. Affleck’s previous directorial venture Argo won the Best Picture Oscar in 2013.

Damon was also part of Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-nominated feature Oppenheimer last year. He is also part of the upcoming films Drive-Away Dolls and Unstoppable.
