The Oscars honor the best of acting performances, and the Razzie Award, originally called the Golden Raspberry Award, honors ‘the worst of cinematic underachievements’. And there are many such actors who have in the cinematic history given some of the finest performances, could not escape Razzie.

There’s one name you were probably not expecting. Ben Affleck, who has given his best in most of his movies, could not save himself from being honored with Razzie Award. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice took home four awards from the 2017 edition of the Razzies.

It ‘won‘ awards for Worst Supporting Actor (Jesse Eisenberg), Worst Screen Combo (Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill), Worst remake, rip-off or sequel, and Worst Screenplay.

The Razzie Awards, also known as the Golden Raspberry Awards, was started in 1981 to celebrate the worst films of the year. Every year, the Razzies are announced on the eve of the Academy Awards night.

Ben Affleck is a two-time Academy Awards winner – one in 1998 for Best Original Screenplay for his renowned Good Will Hunting, an American psychological drama with Matt Damon, and the other in 2013 for Best Picture for Argo, in which he was a producer.

Zack Snyder Opened Up about Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s Poor Reviews 

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was critically panned when it was released. The sequel to 2013’s Man of Steel was criticized for its plot and casting choices.

During a Q&A at Zack Snyder’s Full Circle charity event, Zack Snyder himself spoke about the negative reviews it got.

“I think that probably is what caused the movie to be so polarizing. I think, and maybe I’m wrong. But I feel like a lot of people went into the movies for going like, ‘Oh, it’s the superhero romp, right? Let’s have fun with it.’” (Via Screen Rant)

Also, Snyder said that it was “not cool” for the audience, so they had to pay real attention to the film.

“And we gave them this sort of hardcore deconstructivist, heavily layered, experiential modern mythological superhero movie that needs…that you really need to pay attention to. That was not cool [for them]. That’s not something anyone wanted to do. They were like, ‘What? No! That’s exhausting. How about, why do they fight at night?’ I hate that.”

Earlier, Henry Cavill, who played Superman in the film, talked about all the criticism that tagged the movie as a bad one. He believed the opinions of the critics had been marred by their personal biases.
