For the unversed, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have been friends since childhood. They have also worked on many movies together, for example, Good Will Hunting, Dogma, and The Last Duel.

Recently, a video from the Golden Globes 2024 went viral on social media where Ben is seen surprising Matt at the event. It is a very adorable moment. While sharing his views on high-profile relationships in Hollywood, the Oppenheimer actor once referred to Ben and Jennifer Lopez’s relationship.

He told GQ, “If you end up in their crosshairs, you’re really f*****. Because there is an absolute relationship between how f***** you are, if you’re on the cover of their magazines, and what happens to you as an actor. I mean, nobody knows that more than Ben.”

Damon added, “[Ben Affleck continuing to be with Jennifer Lopez] was proof that he stayed in that relationship for the right reasons. Because he knew it was killing his career. He knew it. And people would say, ‘Oh, you’re courting the press!’ Why the f*** would he want to court that kind of press?”

Matt Damon also explained how being in the public eye too much can hamper the actors’ movies. People are watching an actor constantly performing several duties in their daily lives like shopping and more; hence, the audience would probably lose interest and bother to catch their movies at the theatres. He said, ” There’s too much familiarity.”

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck released a joint statement a few days before their wedding in 2003. As per People magazine, they wrote, “Due to the excessive media attention surrounding our wedding, we have decided to postpone the date. When we found ourselves seriously contemplating hiring three separate ‘decoy brides’ at three different locations, we realized that something was awry…”

Jennifer Lopez recently reflected on her breakup with Ben Affleck two decades ago and opened up about it in an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. She said, “We didn’t break up right at that moment. It happened over the series of the next few months.”

She added, “And I knew in my heart that I wanted to be with him for the rest of my life … But it didn’t feel like we were going to make it. And so, it scared me. You just don’t have the capacity and the ability at that moment, emotionally, to figure it out.

We just weren’t mature enough in that way.” She also explained that after experiencing many things over the years, they met on the same page, and that’s when things worked out for them.

Previously, in another interview, JLo called her break up with Ben one of the biggest heartbreaks in her life and thought that she would die.
