After portraying Superman in the DCEU, Henry Cavill has been rumored to be joining the MCU, and there are several powerful characters he could become.

Recent rumors suggest that Henry Cavill may be vying for a role in the MCU, and though some suspect he could be cast as Marvel Studios’ Doctor Doom, there are several other powerful characters the former-DCEU actor could portray.

Acclaimed British actor Henry Cavill began his career with supporting roles in TV shows and several small feature film appearances, but became internationally known as Clark Kent, a.k.a. Superman, in the DCEU.

Cavill began his superhero career in 2013’s Man of Steel, and returned in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League and Black Adam, prior to the DCEU’s reboot.

While David Corenswet is set to portray Superman in the DC Universe’s Superman: Legacy in 2025, Henry Cavill’s superhero career may not be finished.

Since his departure from the DCEU, there has been speculation that Henry Cavill will join the MCU, with rumors suggesting he could assume the role of Doctor Doom in Phase 6’s The Fantastic Four.

However, there are several other heroes and villains from Marvel Comics that Henry Cavill would perhaps be better suited for than the masked supervillain Victor Von Doom, any of which could set him up for a bright future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

10.Dracula Could Be Introduced In Marvel Studios’ Blade

Marvel Studios’ Blade reboot is currently scheduled for release in November 2025, and will introduce Mahershala Ali as the titular vampire hunter.

Ali will be joined by Delroy Lindo, Aaron Pierre, Milan Ray and Mia Goth, but adding Henry Cavill to the roster would add even more star-power, particularly if he portrays a powerful villain such as Dracula.

Based on Bram Stoker’s Count Dracula, this antagonist would fit perfectly into the vampiric storyline of the MCU’s Blade, and Henry Cavill certainly has the domineering physique and stoicism, as well as the screen presence, to portray this legendary villain.

9.Henry Cavill Would Make A Brilliant Conan The Barbarian

Based on Robert E. Howard’s sword-and-sorcery character, Marvel Comics’ Conan the Barbarian is a prominent hero in the fantasy corners of the Marvel Universe.

Henry Cavill’s experience as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher proves that he could portray Conan the Barbarian brilliantly, though it’s unclear exactly where this obscure character could fit into the MCU’s future.

Perhaps Marvel Studios could bring together the Savage Avengers, bringing together the likes of Conan, Wolverine, the Punisher, Elektra, Daredevil and the Black Knight, which could potentially feature Henry Cavill as the leader of a brutal MCU superhero team.

8.Black Bolt’s Official MCU Debut Could Bring Inhumans To Earth-616

Black Bolt First Appeared In Marvel Comics In 1965

Blackagar Boltagon, a.k.a. Black Bolt, is the ruler of Attilan and the King of the Inhumans in Marvel Comics, imbued with a destructive hypersonic voice that makes him both incredibly powerful and very dangerous.

Anson Mount portrayed Black Bolt in Marvel Television’s Inhumans, and returned as Black Bolt’s Earth-838 variant in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but Henry Cavill could bring Black Bolt and the Inhumans into the MCU’s primary Earth-616 continuity.

Any actor taking on Black Bolt needs to be able to deliver a dynamic performance without many speaking lines, and Henry Cavill certainly fits this role.

Inhumans has been widely regarded as one of the worst Marvel-related projects ever, but Anson Mount’s return as Black Bolt in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness may have teased a reintroduction of the Inhumans in the MCU.

7.Genis-Vell Can Be Introduced After The Marvels

Genis-Vell First Appeared In Marvel Comics In 1993

There have already been hints that Genis-Vell may appear in the MCU, as he’s the son of Mar-Vell, who was portrayed by Annette Bening in Captain Marvel, and the brother of Phyla-Vell, who was adapted into Kai Zen’s Phyla in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Evidently, this origin story will need to be changed for the MCU, but as one of Marvel Comics’ most powerful cosmic superheroes, Genis-Vell would be a great addition to the MCU, particularly if he’s portrayed by Henry Cavill. This practically-omniscient hero would be a major upgrade for Henry Cavill following his depiction of Superman.

6.Sebastian Shaw May Be About To Become A Major MCU Villain

Sebastian Shaw First Appeared In Marvel Comics In 1980

With the X-Men soon set to debut in the MCU, Henry Cavill could be cast as one of the team’s most prominent adversaries. Sebastian Shaw is a mutant with the ability to absorb energy that enhances his own physical attributes, and leads the Hellfire Club, a secret society of mutants hellbent on world domination.

After portraying a superhero in the DCEU, Cavill would make a fantastic supervillain, and Sebastian Shaw would be the perfect choice. Not too dissimilar in appearance to Cavill’s Sherlock Holmes in Enola Holmes, the actor certainly has the chops to take on this classic X-Men foe.

5.Hyperion Is Marvel’s Answer To DC’s Superman

Hyperion First Appeared In Marvel Comics In 1969

The Squadron Supreme first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1969, and was based on the Justice League of America from DC Comics. Each Marvel hero parodied a hero from the DC superteam, and Superman’s counterpart was Hyperion, later revealed to be the superhero identity of Marcus Milton.

Henry Cavill making the jump from playing Superman to being the MCU’s Hyperion would be a hilarious twist on his DCEU character, not least because the pair share the same superhuman abilities. Cavill was wasted as Superman in the DCEU, so portraying Hyperion would give him another stab at a similarly-powered superhero.

The MCU should take advantage of the diverging multiverse to introduce a key Marvel team, especially in light of DC Studios’ plans for the DCU.

4.The Beyonder Could Be Key To The MCU’s Secret Wars

The Beyonder First Appeared In Marvel Comics In 1984

With Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Secret Wars on the cards for a 2027 release, many suspect that the Beyonder will soon be introduced to the MCU. First seen in Marvel Comics’ initial Secret Wars crossover in 1984, the Beyonder is an entity from outside the multiverse, the embodiment of the “Beyond-Realm”, who takes a vested interest into the exploits of Earth’s superhumans.

Henry Cavill not only has the perfect appearance to portray the Beyonder, but his Superman also demonstrated the level of intensity required for this character, which could set up Cavill for a pivotal role in Phase 6 and beyond.

The Beyonder collected several heroes and villains from the Marvel Universe on Battleworld in 1984’s Secret Wars, leading to an epic battle royale. In 2015’s Secret Wars event, Doctor Doom stole the power of the Beyonders to build his own Battleworld after the destruction of the multiverse.

3.Henry Cavill Can Lead The X-Men As Cyclops

Cyclops First Appeared In Marvel Comics In 1963

While it’s possible that Henry Cavill may be cast as an X-Men villain, the rumor mill has also been spinning about who will portray the titular mutant heroes themselves. In Marvel Comics, Scott Summers’ Cyclops is often the X-Men’s leader, which was completely fumbled in Fox’s adaptation.

Henry Cavill being cast as Cyclops would allow the character to finally have this gravitas, though Cavill would be able to portray his more vulnerable and awkward sides as well. If Marvel Studios decides on a younger iteration of the X-Men team, this won’t work, but Cavill would be a fantastic Cyclops nonetheless.

2.Mister Sinister Would Set Up Henry Cavill For A Huge MCU Future

Mister Sinister First Appeared In Marvel Comics In 1987

Nathaniel Essex’s Mister Sinister is perhaps one of the X-Men’s most iconic adversaries in Marvel Comics, yet, despite being teased relentlessly in Fox’s X-Men Universe, he has never made an appearance in live-action. This could change if Marvel Studios finally debuts Mister Sinister, and Henry Cavill is certainly capable of taking on this demanding role.

Mister Sinister needs to be intimidating, but also witty, which Cavill can play to perfection, proven by his previous role in the Mission: Impossible franchise. Marvel Studios must pay off Fox’s Mister Sinister teases, and Cavill could be the perfect choice for this recognizable villain.

One of the X-Men’s most persistent villains has already been teased to be making his MCU debut, particularly after Ms. Marvel and Secret Invasion.

1.Henry Cavill Wants To Play Captain Britain In The MCU

Any MCU role would benefit from being performed by Cavill, but there is one that he has suggested he’d want to play: Captain Britain. In a 2021 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Cavill noted that it would be “loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version” of Captain Britain, akin to how Steve Rogers’ Captain America was handled.

Brian Braddock was the cornerstone hero of the Marvel UK imprint, which would give Henry Cavill the opportunity to represent his home, and as a member of the Captain Britain Corps, Braddock could debut before the MCU’s Multiverse Saga is over.
