Manchester United target Leny Yoro is jetting in from Lille to undergo a medical after a £52million deal was struck.
The Red Devils have the young centre-half on their shortlist and the French club were looking to sell with Yoro’s contract winding down. The stumbling block looked to be the player’s desire to move to Real Madrid, who were also in the race to sign him.
Los Blancos were keen on waiting until he was available on a free, but Lille’s agreement with United means that Yoro will now head to the north west of England to finalise personal terms as the Premier League club look to land another signing, reports the Athletic.
The Ligue 1 side had strongly favoured a deal with the Red Devils as they looked to cash in on their asset. United are hoping to secure a player in Yoro who is regarded across the game as being a generational talent.
Lille were not prepared to sell to a Ligue 1 rival, which ruled out a move to PSG despite their effort to lure Yoro to the French capital in January. Liverpool are also understood to retain an interest but were not in advanced negotiations for the defender.
Erik ten Hag is looking to bolster his defensive options and is also eyeing Matthijs de Ligt and Jarrad Branthwaite alongside Yoro. The club will not sign all three and much may depend on which deal they can get over the line first. A fee with Bayern Munich has reportedly been agreed for De Ligt.
Everton meanwhile have stood firm on their valuation of Branthwaite – already rejecting several bids from the Manchester outfit. The young English defender is open to a switch but the Toffees will not sell for less than their hefty valuation.

United have already completed one signing in what is the first window overseen by their new INEOS owners. Joshua Zirkzee has been bought in from Bologna for just under £40m after the Dutch forward impressed in Serie A last term.
It is possible that one or both of Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire may have to be sold to finance the club’s summer business. United have raised capital thanks to the sales of several players with Donny van de Beek heading to Girona and Willy Kambwala moving to Villarreal.
