England fans demand Gareth Southgate to make two changes for Euro 2024 round of 16 tie

England fans have made their feelings clear after a disappointing performance against Slovenia.

England fans have told Gareth Southgate to make two changes ahead of the Three Lions’ round of 16 tie at Euro 2024.

On Tuesday night, England produced a dismal performance at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Slovenia.

Despite that, the Three Lions still managed to advance to the round of 16 as Group C winners, after Denmark and Serbia also drew 0-0.

Ahead of the match, Southgate made one change from the previous two matches, bringing in Conor Gallagher for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The change did not work as Gallagher was hooked at half-time for Manchester United youngster Kobbie Mainoo.

After the match, England fans took to social media and demanded that Southgate make two changes for the round of 16.

One fan wrote: “Mainoo and Palmer simply have to start on Sunday, he’s got to change something up he can’t be starting that same team again!”

Another tweeted: “Look at what Palmer and mainoo are doing. Then you know that they are the future of the three lions.”

A third fan added: “Start Mainoo with Rice, play Palmer over Saka.”

Someone else wrote: “They have to get Mainoo and Palmer in that side. They are the only 2 that have shown anything. And they have had little to zero minutes.”

A fifth commented: “Cole Palmer and Kobbie mainoo should be starting next game.”

Another fan said: “We have to start Palmer and Mainoo in the next match, offered more in the second half than the players who started the game.”

Speaking about Palmer’s impact after the match, Southgate said: “He did very good. He finds space well and he makes chances and we were backing him to score at the end.

“They are young players and we are blooding them in a difficult environment. They had a good impact for us and did good things for us. Anthony Gordon, Cole Palmer, Kobbie Mainoo, it was a really good move. We have to build on that. There were a lot of things to build on from tonight.”
