Conor McGregor placed a mammoth $60,000 bet ahead of the Euro 2024 tournament.
Conor McGregor placed a mammoth $60,000 bet before the Euro 2024 campaign but the chances of it coming in look a little unlikely.
The staunch Manchester United fan is also pals with Cristiano Ronaldo and was ringside with him for recent boxing events in Saudi Arabia.
He first met the five-time Ballon d’Or winner back in 2016 at his gym in Las Vegas and eight years on, McGregor gave Ronaldo serious backing at this summer’s Euros.

Prior to the showpiece in Germany, the two-weight UFC champion used $60,000 of his reported $200 million net worth to support ‘CR7’.
With Duelbits, McGregor put on the hefty bet for Ronaldo win the Golden Boot at the tournament.
He posted a screenshot of the betting slip, with the caption: “60 G’s on Cristiano Ronaldo to retain his Euro Golden Boot. Siuuu!”.
McGregor managed to get odds of 14/1 for Ronaldo to be the top goalscorer, and will therefore pocket $840,000 if it he outscores the rest of the pack.

But it was ambitious bet from McGregor to begin with and the chances of it coming in look even slimmer now.
Though Ronaldo has made history by becoming the first player to appear in six European Championship tournaments, he is yet to find the net in this year’s competition.
Ronaldo spurned a golden opportunity in the round of 16 game against Slovenia, seeing an extra time penalty saved by Jan Oblak.
After being left in floods of tears, the Al Nassr forward did recover to score the opening penalty in the shoot-out in Frankfurt.
Diogo Costa saved three Slovenia penalties in a row as Portugal progressed to the quarter finals, where they will take on France.
The Euro 2024 goalscoring charts are led by Germany’s Jamal Musiala, Georgia’s Georges Mikautadze and Slovakia’s Ivan Schranz, who all have three goals apiece.
