The comparison with Caitlin Clark that has angered Nebraska Cornhuskers fans: Stupid obsession!

Nebraska Cornhuskers‘ fans were left annoyed that Caitlin Clark managed to find her name forced into a conversation about volleyball as they improved maintained their exceptional form in front of a sold out stadium.

The Cornhuskers haven’t lost a game in the Big 10 conference since September, going on a sensational run of 21 straight wins, and brushed aside the Washington Huskies for what was their 18th sweep of the season in a 25-21 win.

Yet some fans came away from the contest feeling irritated when a commentator referenced that the sold out venue seemed similar to Clark’s impact on the WNBA and NCAA, when the 22-year-old attracted fans from far and wide.

Unappreciative of the comparison, they flooded to X.com, formerly Twitter, to vent their frustration at the basketballer being linked to a completed unrelated sport that she’s never played competitively.

One user wrote, “I’m legit so annoyed by their stupid obsession with one person out of the multitudes of incredible women’s athletes in the world. You never see this [bulls**t] in men’s sports commentary.”

A second added, “… no way.”

Thank you for watching

And a third commented sarcastically, “Didn’t you hear? Caitlin Clark is why Nebraska had 92,003 fans in Memorial Stadium last year. Phew! Could not have done that without her.”

Whilst a fourth concluded, “I took great offense to that. These ladies have been doing it before CC was even born.”

The triumph over the Huskies and series sweep (25-17, 25-11, 25-21) on November 9 was a perfect way for the Cornhuskers to round off their tour of the Pacific Northwest as they extend their lead in the Big 10 conference.

Up next, the Nebraska Cornhuskers welcome the Minnesota Athletics to the Bob Devaney Center on Thursday, November 14. That match is set to start at 21:00 ET/18:00 PT.
