College basketball fans will be able to gain access to stars such as Caitlin Clark like never before in the docuseries, which is the brainchild of Peyton Manning
Caitlin Clark’s ambitions were plain to see as she was shown calling out her Iowa teammates during a heated address in the locker room during her final college season in Peyton Manning’s upcoming docuseries “Full Court Press.”
A collapse versus Nebraska proved Iowa’s undoing in February as the Cornhuskers eventually prevailed 82-79 after cutting down a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter. During that outing, Clark scored 31 points, alongside tallying up 10 assists – with her efforts to no avail.
The trailer for the “Full Court Press” shows how then-Hawkeyes superstar Clark dealt with the hammer blow of the defeat in a revealing piece of behind-the-scenes footage. The series itself is similar in concept to “Quarterback” and follows the life and times of college basketball household names.
Featuring other stars such as Kamilla Cardoso and UCLA’s Kiki Rice, Clark’s involvement will see aspects of her senior year at her alma mater laid bare. Demonstrating her commitment to the Hawkeyes cause during her final season in her home state, the preview showed the 22-year-old in a way seldom seen before.
Clearly dejected after the Nebraska defeat, her frustrations are shown to have boiled over as she issued an expletive-laden rally cry to her teammates while in the locker room. Clark exclaimed: “That team is not […] better than us, are you […] kidding me?”
During an appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show,” Manning spoke in more detail about the show, explaining: “‘Full Court Press’ starts tomorrow [Sunday], and it’s starring Caitlin Clark, Kamilla Cardoso and Kiki Rice. We did ‘Quarterback’ and we wanted to do something like that in another sport. I think people are gonna enjoy it and it’s been a lot of fun to be a part of.
Caitlin Clark was on board and we found these things are better when you have multiple players. So we got Kamilla Cardoso, and Kiki Rice. It’s three different players, schools, backgrounds, and stories. It’s just been fascinating going behind the scenes to see what these women go through, the sacrifices they make, hard work they put in to achieve their goals.
“We got unprecedented access and I think people are going to enjoy it, before providing some insight into the work that WNBA stars like Clark put into their profession. It’s really capturing those stories of how unnoticed that goes. How many hours she put in the gym to get as good as she is.
Previewing the series previously, Clark teased: “I think the biggest thing was just that you can see what we do outside of basketball. When you’re in college, you come and see us twice a week, see us play for two hours on the court. That’s really all you get, you don’t get anything else. Now you get to see a little more into our lives; you don’t get to see every single second of our lives.
“But you’re getting to see a lot of things that had maybe never been shown before, conversations people didn’t know we had or interactions with family members, coaches, or teammates or fans, whatever it is, or how you’re prepping for certain games like March Madness, a lot of that is covered.
“It’s not something a lot of people will get to see, whether it’s from the normal media or coming and watching us in-person, so it’s definitely a different glimpse for fans or viewers.”
