Ravens fan John Callis turns himself in to police after pummeling Commanders fans in disturbing video

The Ravens fan wanted in connection for allegedly assaulting two Washington Commanders fans in a video that subsequently went viral on social media turned himself into Baltimore Police on Monday.

John Callis, 24, is facing charges of first-degree aggravated assault and three counts of second-degree assault after authorities issued a warrant for his arrest last week.

Police announced Callis’ arrest on Monday afternoon in a post on social media showing the alleged perpetrator handcuffed in a blue button-down shirt and dark blue dress pants being perp-walked out of the police station.

Charging documents viewed by local Baltimore TV station WBAL-TV painted a more complete picture of the Oct. 13 incident, where Callis allegedly went up and assaulted two football fans wearing Commanders jerseys in the 1000 block of South Charles Street in Baltimore.

The clip that went viral showed a man police say is Callis walking up to the two fans randomly on the street and going to kick one before knocking the man out cold with a right hook.

The aggressor, who was wearing a purple Lamar Jackson jersey, then began swinging at the other fan pushing him against a wall and then throwing him to the ground.

The man in the purple jersey then could be seen flexing to the camera and declaring, “I don’t f–king lose.”

But charging documents revealed that the Commanders fans had encountered Callis prior to the alleged assault, at 9:42 p.m. outside Cross Street Market, where Callis “began aggressively grabbing and punching victim #1 in his facial area.”

There are three alleged victims stemming from the incident and the encounter that went viral on social media occurred three minutes after the first one when two of the victims ran into Callis, who had remained in the area with an unknown woman, outside the Watershed restaurant, WBAL reported the charging document stating.

Two of the victims had come back to the area in order to find a lost cell phone and that’s when they ran into Callis again.

In the viral video, a voice off-camera could be heard saying, “we got a straggler.”

Charging documents continued that Callis was “forcefully punching victim #1 on the left side of his head and causing victim #1 body to go completely limp while falling in an unconscious state towards a nearby parked vehicle and hitting his head on the vehicle’s left side door…”

Callis is being represented by attorney Brian Thompson of the law firm of Silverman Thompson, according to the Washington Post.

A first-degree assault charge is a felony in Maryland and is punishable with up to 25 years in prison.
