Thompson is a four-time champion and has been one of the most prolific shooters of his generation.

He has formed one half of the feared “Splash Brothers” with Stephen Curry that led the Golden State Warriors to four titles.

But Thompson was traded to the Dallas Mavericks this summer as his career winds down.

And he was 0-9 shooting including 0-6 from three-point range in the 21 minutes he played Monday.

The Mavericks were beaten 110-96 by the Los Angeles Clippers.

And fans called for the 34-year-old to walk away from the game

“If Klay Thompson continues to play like this during the season, its better for him to retire bfr he ruined his legacy,” one said.

Another commented, “I think it’s safe to say Klay Thompson is officially washed.

“He needs to retire before he blemishes his career more.”

While a third wished, “Really hope he finds a rhythm and confidence.”

The Mavericks have high expectations after adding Thompson to their roster.

The team hope Thompson’s championship experience can help their team led by Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

Last year they were beaten by the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals.

Dallas begins their season against Texas rivals the San Antonio Spurs on October 23.

Thompson spent 13 years with the Golden State Warriors after entering the league in 2011.

He won four NBA titles and was a five-time NBA All-Star.

Thompson also won gold with the USA national team at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

The shooting guard and small forward was involved in a historic trade this summer.

His move to the Dallas Mavericks involved six teams.

That July 6 transaction was the first time a six-team trade has ever taken place in the NBA.
