A WNBA star for the Indiana Fever, Clark saw her fame rise during her tenure with Iowa.
She became the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer and led the Hawkeyes to two straight national champion appearances.
Clark was a teammate of Marshall, who retired from basketball following her college career.
On Sunday, Marshall went to see the Cincinnati Bengals lose 41-38 to the Baltimore Ravens in overtime.
The Bengals posted a photo of Marshall looking animated at a tailgate party outside of Paycor Stadium on Instagram.
Clark noticed the post and posted, “Spirit animal” on her Instagram story along with “Go Chiefs” to ruffle some feathers.
Marshall wasn’t afraid to reply with her own team’s chant.
“WHO DEY!!!!!” the 24-year-old wrote.
Marshall appeared in 166 games for Iowa between the 2019 and 2024 seasons.
She averaged 6.6 points along with 1.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 27.7 minutes per game.
Marshall’s response came after Clark was named WNBA Rookie of the Year.
However, she won 66 of the 67 total votes – with only one vote for Angel Reese preventing a unanimous win.
Clark and Reese have a rivalry that dates back to their college days.
And analysts and fans took issue with Clark not receiving all 67 total votes in the award due to her superior year as well as Reese’s season ending early due to injury.

Clark had 19.2 points per game compared to Reese’s 13.6.
She also led her rival in assists per game with 8.4 to 1.9.
Reese was the better rebounder, averaging 13.1 per game to 5.7.
Clark saw her first season end after her Fever lost to the Connecticut Sun in the playoffs last month.
After receiving the award, Clark revealed a message to her fans.
“I am incredibly honored to be named Rookie of the Year,” she said.
“But more than that, I am grateful to everyone that supported me throughout this past season.
“My family and friends, my teammates, the Fever organization and everyone that cheered us on all season.
“I am so proud of what we accomplished and so excited for what the future holds.”
