Terry Bradshaw retires, Tom Brady leaves – FOX NFL’s ultimate nightmare

Members of FOX’s star-studded NFL coverage, including Tom Brady and Terry Bradshaw, have come under fire this season, prompting talk of big changes

FOX’s NFL coverage has become must-see viewing for fans.

Not just for its coverage of the sport, but for the personalities that make up the broadcast, with Tom Brady recently joining Terry Bradshaw and Co. The panel isn’t to everyone’s liking though and social media users have been quick to criticise at times.

There have been some few cringe-worthy moments which have left some viewers feeling a little uncomfortable – and others richly entertained. With all that in mind, here’s how Fox NFL’s ultimate nightmare could look…

Terry Bradshaw retires

Bradshaw is becoming more renowned for his gaffes than his insights, with some viewers calling for the Pittsburgh Steelers legend to retire gracefully.

The 76-year-old has been called out for several on-air mistakes while some of opinions, including one about the Steelers’ Russell Wilson, haven’t aged well. Bradshaw has also had awkward exchanges with Michael Strahan and Brady. However, he remains a fun watch for many and his retirement decision, if made, would leave FOX with a huge hole to fill.

Terry Bradshaw cut Tom Brady off as he was discussing Rob Gronkowski.

Tom Brady leaves

Who better to become an in-game analyst than the former Super Bowl MVP?

Brady was snapped up by Fox to much fanfare, signing a huge 10-year deal worth $375million. He will be a stable of the network’s coverage for the next decade, right?

Well, not necessarily. Brady’s analysis has not been well received by all. In fact, many fans believe the ex-New England Patriots quarterback won’t be part of Fox’s coverage in three seasons’ time, at least according to a poll by Front Office Sports.

Given his global standing, it’s unthinkable that FOX would ever considering firing their star signing. However, given his various other business interests, including with English soccer team Birmingham City, it’s possible he could quit to spend more time on his other passions.

And, who knows, he could even be poached by a rival network who would dearly love to have a personality like Brady as part of their lineup.

Strahan controversy continues

The host was at the centre of unwanted headlines and social media debate after failing to put his hand over his chest during a playing of the national anthem while attending a Veterans Day event with his FOX colleagues.

After Strahan, whose father was a military man, was seen shoving a phone camera out of his face when approached outside his home by a reporter, he took to social media to issue a video apology. After addressing the incident with the reporter, he made it clear that he hadn’t been taking part in any kind of protest.

“I have nothing to protest,” he insisted. “I have no statement to be made. The only statement that should be made and I want to make is: I love the military. I’ve always loved the military, and I always love the military.”

“Do I be the fool that puts his hand over his heart after, or do I just stand with my hands in front of me respectfully?” he asked. “That’s what I did. That’s what happened.”

Strahan and Fox will hope that is the end of the matter.
