Caitlin Clark too ‘busy’ for basketball as WNBA star attends Taylor Swift concert

After a gruelling schedule which encompassed back-to-back NCAA and WNBA seasons, Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark appears to be enjoying a well-earned break during the off-season

Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark admitted that she is too “busy” to think about basketball during the WNBA off-season – as she let her hair down at a Taylor Swift concert.

The former college star made history after a successful transition to life on the professional scene after being selected as the No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft. From there, she averaged 19.2 points, a league-high 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds during a memorable maiden term in the WNBA – as she set 11 new league records in the process.

However, the Rookie of the Year is now enjoying a hard-earned rest after jumping straight into life with the Fever after a grueling NCAA senior season with Iowa. Clark channeled her inner Swiftie as she attended two of the chart-topper’s shows at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

During the first night of the Eras Tour shows in the city, the Fever fan favorite swapped friendship bracelets with fans – in line with the custom at Swift’s shows. Following on from this, she kept a lower profile for the second show but responded to a clip of her from her first WNBA season on social media, remarking: “Busy at eras tour thanks for tag tho.”

Clark made no secret of her desire for a break from basketball after completing her first campaign with Indiana. ESPN’s Ryan Ruocco previously said of her approach: “We talked to Caitlin Clark earlier today. She said she almost definitely will not play basketball this offseason. So it is likely we will not see her play again until April.”

The 22-year-old also opened up on the impacts of the increased scrutiny she has felt since joining the Fever as she opened up on living life in the glare of the spotlight. She confessed: “It feels like everybody is watching your every single move, no matter what you’re doing. I’ve tried to be the same person off the court.

It will be a little bit of an adjustment period for myself. It’s going to be nice, though, getting out of the spotlight,” she continued, as she looked forward to a break from the pressure she has been under. “Getting to live my life and do the things that I want to do, get away and relax a little bit.”

The former Hawkeyes hero even revealed that she will be looking to brush up on her golfing skills during the off-season, saying: “Maybe play some golf. I think that’s what I’m going to do until it gets too cold in Indiana. … I’ll become a professional golfer.

Ahead of playing at the LPGA pro-am at The Annika later this month, she said: “I love golf, so the opportunity to play in the Pro-Am for a tournament with a legend like Annika Sorenstam’s name on it is so exciting. … I’m looking forward to seeing all the LPGA players on the driving range, being part of the Women’s Leadership Summit, and, of course, teeing it up in the pro-am with Annika.”
