The fallout of Brittney Griner receiving a nine-year sentence continued this week after Trevor Noah went nuclear on Russia.

Noah, host of The Daily Show on Comedy Central, blasted the Russian government for its hypocrisy, calling Griner’s nine-year sentence “bullsh-t.”

“We all know Russia doesn’t care about what Brittney Griner did,” Noah said. “This is the same country that’s breaking every human rights law on the planet, but they’re like, ‘That woman has vape cartridge. She’s real criminal.’”

“Get the f— out of here, man!”


Back in February, Griner was arrested at a Moscow airport when Russian officials allegedly found vape cartridges containing less than one gram of cannabis oil in her luggage.

The “wrongfully detained” WNBA star pleaded guilty to drug charges last month and was sentenced to nine years in a Russian prison on Thursday. The only hope she has of getting home is the Russian and U.S. governments working out a prisoner swap.
