Earlier in the week, the WNBA announced that it would be starting “Assist Week” on social media, which was supposed to top 10 assists for the season. Of course, how can you showcase the statistic without the league leader, Caitlin Clark?
In just her rookie season, Clark broke the season record for assists, so the WNBA posted a minute-and-a-half video of some of her best assists on X.
However, in the post, the official X account of the WNBA stated that Clark finished with “321 total dimes.” Unfortunately, that’s just plain wrong, as she finished with 337.
The post went viral very quickly, and after many complaints about the obvious mistake and even getting hit with a community note, the WNBA deleted the post.
Many on social media won’t let the social team behind the post go quickly and are still complaining about the league’s treatment of Clark.
Of course, it’s unlikely that the mistake was intentional, but you’d think that talking about such a major record involving one of the most premium players would warrant a quick fact-check to avoid this kind of mistake.
Caitlin Clark Revealed What Annoyed Her During The WNBA Draft
Being the first overall pick in the WNBA draft was likely a dream come true for Clark, but the star recently revealed how it could have been better.
On the “Fresh Hawk” podcast, Clark revealed that she felt very rushed and did not get to relish in the moment enough.
“I was so upset because after I got drafted, I just got dragged out immediately, and I didn’t get to see any of the draft,” Clark said.
“I didn’t even take pictures with you guys, my family, [her boyfriend] Connor McCaffery—no one,” she continued.
