A Taylor Swift fan grabbed the internet’s attention when she was chosen to receive the “22” hat during the first night of the “Eras Tour” in Hamburg, Germany.

In a now-viral video posted on X, formerly Twitter, the young girl enchanted the audience with her impressive dance skills, catching the 14-time Grammy winner’s attention as she stood near the stage.

Her delightful performance stopped only when Swift stood before her. The Swiftie’s face lit up with joy as the pop superstar knelt down to embrace her warmly.

Swift leaned in for another hug after exchanging a high-five with the girl, which the fan eagerly reciprocated while belting out the lyrics of “22.”

The heartwarming video quickly gained traction on X as fellow Swifties lauded the young girl’s impressive dance skills.

“A future backing dancer for @taylorswift13 receives the 22 hat,” @swifferupdates tweeted.

Initially starting during Swift’s “Eras Tour” show in Glendale, California, in 2023, the “22” hat tradition has become a cherished part of her concerts.

This special gesture involves the “Lover” hitmaker selecting a lucky fan from the audience and gifting them the iconic black fedora she dons during her performances.

The fedora, Gladys Tamez’s creation, bears the signature of Swift. This tradition pays tribute to the track “22” from Swift’s fourth studio album, “Red.” The music video for the song features the singer-songwriter wearing the same fedora.

There is no clear strategy or method in the quest to get Swift’s fedora hat. However, various speculations have emerged online regarding the mysterious process behind acquiring the coveted headwear.

Concert attendee Michelle Hillier believes that Swift’s mother, Andrea, is responsible for selecting who receives the hat.

“There was a little girl in my section and she was just dancing up a storm, having the absolute best time since the beginning of the show,” she said in a TikTok video.

Halfway through the “Eras Tour” show at the time, a security guard reportedly approached their area and joined in their dancing. Unexpectedly, they beckoned the young girl and her two companions to follow her.

“Those three never returned. I could not get a good look at the little girl’s face, but it looked exactly like the girl who received the hat. So my guess is, at the beginning of the show, Mama Swift picks somebody that she sees and then security comes down and takes them,” the TikTok user said.
