Former UFC star Ronda Rousey has shown support for Simone Biles after the gymnastics superstar was eliminated from the women’s team final at the Olympics on Tuesday. Rousey took to Twitter to deliver a stern message to critics, writing that whatever Biles is dealing with is an internal struggle.
“Anyone judging @Simone_Biles is clueless about her position when standing where she is. She’s on the Olympic team while you’re on Twitter. Whatever’s going on is impossible to understand from the outside. She’s doing the best she can under the circumstances,” Rousey wrote.
While Rousey is a superstar in the world of MMA, she represented the United States at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She won a bronze medal in judo.
American star Biles shocked the world when she withdrew from the event after her vault. She later told reporters that her mental health was not okay.
JADE CAREY STEPS UP FOR SIMONE BILES AS SHINING SPOTLIGHT ON OLYMPIC GYMNASTICS
“I have to do what’s right for me and focus on my mental health and not jeopardize my health and well-being,” the medalist told reporters.
On Wednesday, Biles withdrew from the individual all-around competition.
In a statement on Wednesday, USA Gymnastics said: “After further medical evaluation, Simone Biles has been withdrawn from the final individual all-around competition at the Tokyo Olympic Games to focus on her mental health.” “Simone will continue to be assessed daily to determine whether she will compete in the individual event finals next week. Jade Carey, who scored ninth in the qualification, will compete in the finals on her behalf.
“We wholeheartedly support Simone’s decision and applaud her courage in prioritizing her health. Her courage once again shows why she is a role model to so many.”
