Jemele Hill has a serious problem with Caitlin Clark, but it’s not because of anything she did or said, it’s because of how the media covers her.

Caitlin Clark, the Iowa Hawkeyes superstar, has been the biggest name in women’s college basketball for the past few years and she’s not even close to that. She’s been called the female Stephen Curry and is drawing the same attention as him.

Not only are fans flocking to see her, but the media coverage of her is insane, which is a problem for Jemele Hill.

The former ESPN host argues that the media covers white players like Caitlin Clark much differently than they do black players.

“Everything about this sport has been trending for years,” Hill said in an interview with Uproxx. “It didn’t just start with Caitlin Clark.”

“A study that I cited recently for a piece in The Atlantic [found that] when you compare [the coverage] of someone like (Paige) Bueckers, Sabrina Ionescu, or Caitlin Clark to A’ja Wilson, who has dominated basketball at every level. She’s probably the best player in the world right now. And I’m not trying to sound like she doesn’t get coverage, but the coverage that white women sometimes get, or especially black women, is … not even close. It’s two to one,” Hill added.

Hill added that A’ja Wilson, arguably the best player in the world, deserves more coverage than Caitlin Clark is getting right now.

“I mean, Aliyah Boston was the best player in college just a few years ago. And she didn’t even get one-tenth the coverage that Caitlin Clark got. Now, some people will say, ‘Oh, it’s her game. ‘ But I don’t think it’s that. She’s great on television, and I think, What a missed opportunity for the national media to really elevate her as a person. Caitlin Clark seems like a great personality, but that’s really not like Caitlin Clark is going around saying crazy things. They’re just covering up her brilliance, and that’s good enough, and when Black athletes get the same or even equal coverage, there has to be something extra [beyond basketball].” Clark is having a great run with No. 1 seed Iowa in her senior year. The superstar guard broke several NCAA records as she looked to add a National Championship to her resume before leaving the WNBA after that year.

Despite what Jemele Hill might think, Clark won’t just be in college basketball history for her incredible scoring exploits and overall impact. women’s game.
