Wrexham have smashed their club-record transfer fee under Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
The Red Dragons have been adding to their squad after securing back-to-back promotions under Phil Parkinson.
And they have now secured the services of one of their most exciting signings, confirming the capture of Ollie Rathbone from Rotherham United.
Though the exact amount hasn’t been confirmed by either team, Wrexham say it is a club record deal, with Rathbone tied down until the end of the 2026/27 season.
Their previous record purchase was the £300,000 deal to sign striker Ollie Palmer in January 2022.
The switch is still subject to EFL approval, meaning Rathbone will not be allowed to make his debut in the season opener against Wycombe Wanderers at SToK Cae Ras.

The 27-year-old spent time in Manchester United’s academy before turning out for both Rochdale and Rotherham, racking up over 200 appearances in the third tier.
He played in the Championship last term and his signing, Wrexham’s seventh of the summer, is seen as a real coup.
Speaking to the club’s official website after penning a three-year deal, Rathbone said: “I’m delighted. I’m really excited to be here and to get going.
“To have back-to-back promotions, the club is obviously doing something very right from the outside looking in. There’s nowhere I’d rather be signing.
“I’m really glad the move has been completed. It’s going to be a long season, but I’m hopeful that we’ll have another successful season.”

Wrexham are playing in the third division for the first time in 19 years and are hopeful of securing a mid-table finish.
And manager Parkinson believes Rathbone will be a fine addition to his squad.
He commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Ollie to the club. He’s a player with experience at Championship level and a promotion from League One earlier in his career.
“We’re looking forward to working with him.”
