England sneaked into the last eight of Euro 2024 after beating Slovakia.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez’s reaction after England’s dramatic win over Slovakia has got fans talking.
On Sunday evening, Gareth Southgate’s men put the whole nation through all the emotions as England took on Slovakia in the last 16 of Euro 2024.
In the first half, the Three Lions were not at the races as Ivan Schranz scored in the 25th minute to give Slovakia a well-deserved lead.
England huffed and puffed in the second half but as the clock ticked past the 90th minute, it looked like they were heading out of the tournament.
AdvertHowever, Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham had other ideas as he scored a last-gasp overhead kick to make it 1-1 deep into stoppage time.
As the match went into extra-time, England captain Harry Kane headed his side in front from close range.
Eventually, Southgate’s men managed to hold on as they sealed their place in the last eight, setting up a date with Switzerland.
After the match, a video of Alexander-Arnold and Gomez reacting on the back of the final whistle went viral.
The pair looked at each other as they walked onto the pitch after the match.
Reacting on social media, one fan said: “Trent looks like he seen a ghost.”
Another tweeted: “Trent looks like he’s about to quit international football and just concentrate on domestic.”
A third fan added: “They look so tired of this country.”

Speaking after the match, Southgate said: “I had a funny feeling the game wasn’t dead and I know that sounds ridiculous. We were pushing and probing. Ultimately it is the one we have thrown in the box that got us the goal.”

On Bellingham, the England boss added: “With 15 minutes to go you wonder if he is out on his feet. Him and Harry Kane produce those moments and that is why you don’t makes changes when people are clamouring for more changes. We had enough attacking players on the pitch.”
