'This is insane' - fans in disbelief after what player did during Ireland Women's Olympics match

The 2024 Paris Olympic Games are in full swing.

Fans have been left in disbelief after seeing what happened during the Olympic rugby sevens match.

On Tuesday afternoon, Team GB’s women’s rugby sevens were in Olympic action against the Irish women’s team.

The pair were battling to finish in seventh place after losing in the quarter-finals.

In the end, Team GB came away victorious after clinching a win by 28-12.

However, one moment during the match left fans in disbelief.

With five minutes on the clock, after a member of the Team GB team restarted the game by kicking the ball towards the Irish, the viral moment occurred.

Erin King lifted up her teammate Emily Lane to catch the ball and showed immense strength to make sure Lane did not fall on her back after she appeared to overreach for the ball.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: “This is absolutely insane.”

Another tweeted: “I knew this clip was gonna find its way to wrestling twitter.”

A third fan added: “That strength to maintain your grip is crazyyyy.”

Someone else wrote: “Weightlifting rugby gymnast making a wrestling rainbow move. Whoa.”

A fifth commented: “11 got that superwoman strength. Insane.”

Another fan said: “My lower back hurts just watching this.”

New Zealand won the gold medal, and successfully defended their title after beating Canada 19-12.

The Black Ferns found themselves 12-7 down at half-time but tries from Michaela Blyde and Stacey Waaka completed a brilliant comeback.

Meanwhile, the bronze medal went to Team USA after they claimed a last-gasp victory over Australia, winning by 14 points to 12.

In the men’s, home favourites France sealed the gold medal after being inspired by talisman Antoine Dupont, the hosts beat Fiji 28-7 at the Stade de France earlier in the week.

Speaking after the match, Dupont was asked about being named the GOAT: “It’s always a pleasure to hear things like that, but I don’t spend a lot of time focusing on it.

“I think now I will just enjoy my holidays. I am still young and I have a lot of work to do.”
