Shock Premier League club that no-one saw coming in 'advanced talks' to sign Pedro Neto from Wolves

Neto is set to move on – but to a club that no-one expected.

Wolves are in advanced talks with a surprise Premier League club over the sale of Pedro Neto, according to a new report.

Neto has been heavily linked with potential moves to Arsenal, Liverpool or Manchester City this summer, with the latter considering him as a possible replacement for Julian Alvarez.

The Portugal winger provided nine assists in 20 games for Wolves last season, with only injury preventing him from having an even greater impact on Gary O’Neil’s side.

Last month, transfer journalist Simon Phillips claimed that Chelsea had lodged their interest in signing Neto with the player’s agents.

But since then, there has been little to no indication that the Blues would move for the £50 million-rated winger.

However, RMC Sport have now explosively claimed that a deal is almost done between Chelsea and Wolves, with Neto having already expressed his desire to move to Stamford Bridge.

Reporter Fabrice Hawkins posted to Twitter that talks are at a ‘final stage’, and that the two clubs have already reached an agreement in principle.

Wolverhampton Express & Star reporter Liam Keen, meanwhile, says the agreed fee is £51.4 million.

It could rise up to £54 million when bonuses are included – meaning Wolves stand to make double the £18 million they spent to sign him from Lazio in 2019.

Since then, Neto has established himself as one of the most dangerous wingers in the Premier League when fit, although it will be that fitness that may be the only sticking point for Chelsea.

The 24-year-old has featured in 51 Premier League games over the last three seasons, though Wolves were undoubtedly weaker when he was not available.

Wolves are said to have rejected lesser offers from Chelsea before settling on the £51.4 million initial fee, with The Athletic adding that Neto is now set to undergo a medical at Cobham before finalising his move.
