PSG make Manuel Ugarte decision that could have huge impact on potential Man Utd transfer

PSG have made a decision on Manuel Ugarte

Manchester United have been handed an update on their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain star Manuel Ugarte.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s first summer as co-owner of the club has been a busy one with plenty of new faces arriving at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag has spent around £140m on new recruits, bringing Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui to the club.

United show no signs of stopping as they look to bridge the gap to their rivals in the Premier League table after missing out of European football last season and have already lined up their next deal.

Ten Hag wants to sign a top quality defensive midfielder after opting against making Soyfan Ambarat’s loan spell permanent this summer and PSG midfielder Manuel Ugarte is his top target.

Personal terms are believed to be agreed with the Uruguayan star and the deal took a fresh twist on Friday after Fabrizio Romano confirmed the midfielder is OUT of the squad for PSG’s opening Ligue 1 fixture.

Romano wrote on X: “Manuel Ugarte, OUT of PSG squad for their opening Ligue1 game. He wants to join Manchester United, deal never been off. Absolutely on. But it will depend on conditions wanted by PSG. Ugarte has been clear: he wants #MUFC as soon as possible.”

The two clubs are currently believed to be way apart in their valuations of the former Sporting Lisbon midfielder which is preventing the deal from being completed.

It had been suggested that Jadon Sancho could have been key to completing a deal for Ugarte with the French champions registering their interest in the winger who spent last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund.

Despite making amends with Ten Hag and returning to the first-team setup at United, Sancho’s future remains unclear and he is believed to be open to leaving Old Trafford permanentlty.

However, The Daily Mail have since reported that PSG’s move for Sancho has now collapsed after being in talks over a deal expected to be worth around £51m with Chelsea now emerging as a potential destination for the ex-Manchester City man.
