The attacker has now returned to Old Trafford after a loan spell at Getafe.
Mason Greenwood has returned to Manchester United after a loan spell away from the club, with the attacker’s next step in his career yet to be confirmed.
The 22-year-old came through the youth team ranks at the Old Trafford club, but has not played for the club since January 2022.
Greenwood was arrested that month following allegations surrounding material which was published on social media.
However, charges against the forward, including attempted rape and assault, were discontinued by the Crown Prosecution Service on February 2 of last year.
Since the charges were discontinued, United internally investigated the matter and ultimately announced in August 2023 that Greenwood would be leaving the club to continue his playing career elsewhere.

Greenwood spent last season on loan at La Liga side Getafe, scoring 10 goals in 36 games in all competitions for the Spanish outfit.
With his loan deal in Spain coming to an end, Greenwood is set to return to United, who begin pre-season training on Monday, July 8.
Several players who have been and continue to be involved in Euro 2024 and the Copa America – such as Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo, Lisandro Martinez, Alejandro Garnacho and many others – will of course not report back to Carrington yet, with those who are on international duty being given extra time off to rest and recover ahead of the 2024/25 campaign and they will link up with the United squad at a later date.

Greenwood’s United contract expires next summer, though the club do have an option to extend it by a further 12 months.
The most likely scenario is that Greenwood departs United permanently this summer, though there is still the option that he leaves on loan or remains at the club.
And as per The Athletic, though Greenwood would be expected to return to Carrington for pre-season fitness tests, it is likely the forward will be given extra time off due to United seeking to complete a permanent sale of the player this summer transfer window.
It is reported French side Marseille and Italian outfit Lazio are two teams who are in advanced talks for Greenwood’s signature, with a range of European sides having an interest in one-time England international.
It remains to be seen where Greenwood ultimately ends up playing his football next season, but it appears as though his United career definitely coming to a conclusion this summer is the most likely prospect.
