Manchester City star suffers horror injury just days before start of the season

Man City have been dealt a major injury blow.

Manchester City star Oscar Bobb has suffered a horror injury just days before the start of the new Premier League season.

Man City are looking to win a record-extending fifth successive Premier League title in 2024-25, and Oscar Bobb was set to play a significant role in their bid.

The 21-year-old winger made a good impression during a string of cameo appearances last season, including when he scored a last-gasp winner in a 3-2 win against Newcastle in January.

Bobb had an excellent pre-season with City, and set up City’s equaliser in the Community Shield against Manchester United on Saturday.

The Norway international looked set to be one of Pep Guardiola’s go-to options on the right wing this season, but on Wednesday the news broke that Bobb has suffered a fractured bone in his leg.

Rumours started circulating early on Wednesday evening, before the new was confirmed by the Daily Mail’s Jack Gaughan.

While City have not completed a full assessment, Bobb is set to be out of action for several months.

Bobb’s absence leaves new signing Savio as Guardiola’s main option on the right wing, although Phil Foden and Jeremy Doku can both play there too.

This major injury set-back coupled with the departure of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid could see City enter the market for a new attacker.

City will begin their Premier League title defence with a potentially tricky trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Sunday, August 18.
