Man United are having a busy summer transfer window.
Manchester United are reportedly ready to make a £60 million bid for their next transfer target once they complete the signings of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
United are set to sign both De Ligt and Mazraoui from Bayern Munich in deals worth £43m and £17m respectively.
Both defenders flew to Manchester on Monday morning to undergo medical tests at United’s Carrington training ground and sign their contracts.
The duo will become United’s third and fourth signings of the summer, following the arrivals of centre-back Leny Yoro from Lille and striker Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna.
Given the number of injuries United defenders suffered last season, it’s not surprising that three of United’s four recruits this summer play in the back-line.
However, with Yoro set to miss the next three months with a foot injury sustained during pre-season, United might not be done in the transfer market just yet.
According to Football Insider, United are ready make a £60m bid for Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite.
United are long-term admirers of the 21-year-old, and had bids of £35m plus add-ons and £50m rejected earlier this summer.
Football Insider have reported that United are confident that Everton will accept the latest offer despite the new Premier League season kicking off this weekend.
Everton value the England international at around £80m, but could accept a lower offer for a player who has reportedly already agreed personal terms with United worth £160,000 a week.
Should Everton accept an offer of £60m, then that would take United’s spending to £207.5m in the club’s first summer transfer window since Sir Jim Ratcliffe became minority owner of the club.
United were pursuing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte, but are considering other candidates after refusing to meet the French club’s £51m asking price.
United will begin the 2024-25 Premier League season with a clash against Fulham at Old Trafford on Friday, August 16.
