United have been linked with a move for Fenerbahce’s Ferdi Kadioglu this summer.
Manchester United have abandoned their plans to strengthen a previously problematic position this summer, according to a new report.
As predicted, the Reds have been active in the current transfer window. They made Netherlands international Joshua Zirkzee their first signing of the summer after a £34 million deal was agreed with Bologna.
Highly-rated centre-back Leny Yoro was then acquired from Ligue 1 outfit Lille in a deal worth up to £58.9 million.
And earlier this month, United completed the double signing of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich for a reported £60 million.
So who next? It appears the club are keen on bringing a No.6 to Old Trafford in the coming days, a position that will be ‘the final piece of the jigsaw’, according to a report from The Athletic.

United have made an offer to Championship outfit Burnley for defensive midfielder Sander Berge, say the Daily Mail, but it remains short of the £30 million valuation set for the player.
Manuel Ugarte, meanwhile, appears to be the preferred option for United, but only if Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to lower their asking price for the Uruguayan.
Their chase for a No.6 has been an interesting one to follow, and so was their ambition to add another left-back to their squad following another injury setback to Luke Shaw.
But it now appears they have decided against pursuing that position. In fact, The Athletic report that they have ruled out a move for Fenerbahce’s Ferdi Kadioglu, who impressed with Turkey at Euro 2024.
Summer signing Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot can both play at left-back and with Luke Shaw recovering well, Erik ten Hag is said to be happy with his options.

The emergence of Harry Amass could also be a factor behind the decision. After a number of impressive performances in pre-season, he has trained with the first-team squad on numerous occasions, including a session on Monday.
In a recent interview with the Manchester Evening News, United U21 manager Travis Binnion was full of praise for the teenage full-back.
“Harry’s very good on the ball, he can defend well, but he knows a big part of his game is wider defending to ensure he deals with movement and defending space in behind,” said Binnion.
“His game in possession is in a really good place and he’s physically capable, but he knows that he’s got to keep working, as most full-backs have, in their defensive moments.”
