Man Utd fans name surprise player who should start first Premier League game as compilation goes viral

One player stood out from Manchester United’s victory over Real Betis.

Manchester United fans have named the surprise player who should start their first Premier League game of the new season following his stunning pre-season showing.

Man United are in the United States for their pre-season tour, having lost to Arsenal last weekend.

The Red Devils resumed their pre-season last night as they beat Real Betis 3-2 in San Diego, California.

Marcus Rashford, Amad Diallo and Casemiro all got on the score-sheet as Erik ten Hag suffered two more injury blows ahead of the new season.

Despite the two injuries against Betis, Man United fans on social media found a huge positive from their latest pre-season fixture.

People hailed the performance of Amad and claimed he should start against Fulham in their league opener of the 2024/25 campaign.

He was a constant threat on the right-wing and won his side’s penalty, which was converted by Rashford.

The 22-year-old was also involved in Casemiro’s goal as the youngster capped off his performance with a strike of his own, rifling home from inside the box.

Man United supporters want Ten Hag to use Amad from the start when they begin their league campaign on August 16.

One X user wrote: “He HAS to start in the first PL game.”

A second tweeted: “I hate saying it but he’s like a new signing, he’s not really had a consistent chance at Utd but seems like he could this year for sure.”

A third added: “Not only the first… But start all the games if he is fit!!”

A fourth said: “Protect Amad at all cost and don’t allow him to get injury. This guy will be on fire this season. He has already put everyone on notice.”

Another commented: “Should’ve had more minutes last season though.”

The Ivory Coast international, who has enjoyed loan spells at Rangers and Sunderland, made just 12 appearances in all competitions last season.

But he could be in store for his most active campaign at Man United next season following his performances in pre-season.
