Another injury problem has befallen United.
Manchester United fans have called for one player to be allowed to leave the club after an announcement on social media.
United play their opening Premier League fixture of the season on Friday when they host Fulham at Old Trafford.
But they will do so without left-back Luke Shaw, who was not deemed fit enough to take on Manchester City in the Community Shield last weekend.
United have announced that Shaw has in fact picked up a calf injury which will rule him out until at least the next international break in September.
A club statement reads: “Luke Shaw will miss the opening games of the Premier League season due to a calf injury sustained at the start of pre-season training.

“He is working hard on his rehabilitation with a view to being available after the first international break.”
Shaw had only recently returned to training after reaching the Euro 2024 final with England.
He played 90 minutes in the final against Spain on July 13 – his first appearance for club or country since February due to a hamstring problem.
And although United fans are sympathetic for Shaw’s situation, and not forgetting the fact that he is one of the club’s key players when fit, some are now questioning whether his long-term future should be at United amid an already concerning lack of depth at left-back.
One wrote: “This is the last season of Luke Shaw at Manchester United unfortunately.”
A second said: “Luke Shaw is probably our best player after Bruno, but bloody hell that’s only beneficial if he’s fit.”
A third added: “While we support him and his rehabilitation, we should be planning to move on from him totally.”

And fourth stated: “Luke Shaw damn near had his leg amputated. Definitely time to move on – it’s a shame he can’t stay fit. It’s a miracle he’s even walking, let alone playing football.”
United are set to confirm the signing of full-back Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich, who can play on both sides.
But after the departure of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham, the Morocco international will also compete with Diogo Dalot on the right flank.
Behind Shaw, Tyrell Malacia remains unavailable as he works his way back to full fitness, leaving 17-year-old Harry Amass as the only other natural left-back.
