Man Utd fans can't believe what shirt Alejandro Garnacho was spotted wearing while on holiday

Garnacho is yet to meet up with United’s squad ahead of the new season.

Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho has risked angering his idol Cristiano Ronaldo after being spotted in a rival team’s football shirt while on his summer holiday.

Garnacho, 20, is enjoying a well-earned break away from the rest of the United squad, who are currently on their pre-season tour of the United States.

The forward is yet to meet up with the squad after helping Argentina win Copa America earlier this summer.

He made one appearance in the competition as Lionel Scaloni’s side won their third major international tournament in recent years, having also triumphed at the 2021 Copa America in Brazil and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Garnacho is currently on holiday with his United teammate Facundo Pellistri and is not expected to join up with the Red Devils until they’ve returned to the UK from their tour of the States.

And he got fans talking on Monday after posting a picture of himself following a training session with the Uruguayan.

Garnacho took to Instagram to post an image of himself wearing the shirt of Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad, alongside the caption: “Work done!”

His decision to wear the Al Ittihad shirt instead of his hero Ronaldo’s Al Nassr was spotted by United fans.

One supporter posted on X: “His idol plays for Al Nassr, why’s he wearing Al Ittihad’s jersey?”

“Why not Al Nassr’s jersey to support his idol????,” added another.

While a rival fan joked: “Where he’s going to end up in three years.”

Garnacho has previously spoken of his admiration for Al Nassr superstar Ronaldo, having briefly played alongside the Portuguese great at Old Trafford.

After playing with Ronaldo against Sheriff Tiraspol in 2022, Garnacho wrote on Instagram: “I don’t know if it’s real or if I’m dreaming.”

United next face Real Betis on Thursday before taking on Liverpool on Sunday in their final match of their US tour.

Garnacho is set to meet up with the squad ahead of their Community Shield match against rivals Manchester City on August 4, with their opening game of the new Premier League season coming against Fulham on August 16.
