Man Utd 'agree to pay' £34m to sign player from Real Madrid and solve massive problem for Erik ten Hag

Manchester United are reportedly nearing a deal for a player Real Madrid are buying back from Girona.

Manchester United have reportedly agreed to sign a player who is returning to Real Madrid but only to be sold for profit.

It’s set to be a busy summer for United under Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, in what will be the first window under a completely different structure.

Technical director Jason Wilcox will soon be joined by chief executive Omar Berrada, as well as Christopher Vivell and long-time target Dan Ashworth.

They will lead the recruitment process at United and already there’s talk of the club closing in on a vital addition.

Fabrizio Romano has already confirmed that United will prioritise signing a new left-back after both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia were plagued by injuries last term.

The likes of Diogo Dalot, Victor Lindelof, Sofyan Amrabat and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were forced to deputise in the position.

Sergio Reguilon also played the first half of the campaign on loan from Spurs before the spell was cut short.

But according to reports in Spain, via Football 365, United have set their sights on 22-year-old left-back Miguel Gutierrez.

Gutierrez has been with La Liga side and Manchester City sister club Girona since 2022, racking up 76 appearances across two seasons.

He made 40 appearances in 2023/24, scoring twice and assisting seven as Girona finished third and secured a historic qualification to the Champions League.

It’s claimed that Real will exercise their option to buy Gutierrez back for just €8 million.

But he will not be adding to his 10 first-team appearances for the European champions as there is “no space” for him in the squad.

They are still pushing hard to sign top target from Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich and will therefore be instantly offloaded.

There is interest from Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal but Real have reportedly “agreed’ to accept a pledge from United, who will pay €40m (£34 million) for his services.
