Kevin De Bruyne 'agreed' staggering three-year Al Ittihad contract which would have seen him earn insane wage

Kevin De Bruyne had agreed in principle a three-year-contract worth a staggering amount.

Kevin De Bruyne is set to turn his back on a whopping contract despite ‘agreeing’ a stunning deal with Al Ittihad.

De Bruyne, who has entered the final year of his contract at Manchester City, has been linked with a sensational move to Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad.

His future was clouded by uncertainty ahead of the new season until Pep Guardiola said his star man won’t be leaving the Etihad this summer.

The Belgium had agreed in principle a three-year contract worth a staggering £156 million following talks with Al Ittihad.

So, he would have earned an insane wage of £1 million-per-week, according to journalist Jeremy Cross.

But the 33-year-old will remain with the Blues for one more season at least.

Ultimately, he was reluctant to uproot his children despite discussing a move to the Middle East with his wife.

Speaking ahead of Man City’s pre-season game against Celtic, Guardiola said: “Kevin is not going.

“If someone leaves, we’re going to talk about that.

“Of course, until the last day, we have chances (to make transfers), I don’t rule out the option to have new players, but I think there is an 85/90 per cent chance we will have the same squad.

“I feel comfortable, because the quality of human beings we have in the squad is difficult to be replaced, and the quality is there.

“But we’ll see, I don’t know in the last moment if someone comes for some players and they leave, we’re going to decide.”

De Bruyne has been at Man City since the summer of 2015 following his £55 million transfer from Wolfsburg.

He’s made 382 appearances for the club, winning six Premier League titles.

He also won the Champions League during their treble-winning campaign in the 2022/23 season.
