Ivan Toney wanted by two Premier League giants as shock details emerge over stunning transfer

Two Premier League clubs are eyeing a move for Ivan Toney ahead of the transfer deadline.

Ivan Toney is wanted by two Premier League clubs as shock details emerge over a potential summer transfer.

Toney remains heavily linked with a move away from Brentford ahead of the new Premier League season.

Tottenham and West Ham United were thought to be interested in signing the star forward before they snapped up Dominic Solanke and Niclas Fullkrug respectively.

But Manchester United and Chelsea are still keeping tabs on the 28-year-old this summer.

According to The Independent, Brentford are holding out for a massive £60 million, which has been reduced from the £100 million they were after in January.

Man United and Chelsea are prepared to test Brentford’s resolve for Toney by offering a loan deal with an obligation to buy.

Arsenal struck a similar deal with Brentford for David Raya, who joined on an initial loan before signing for £30 million this summer.

It could allow Brentford to secure a fee close to their valuation while also enabling clubs to comply with profit and sustainability rules (PSR).

Man United, who completed the transfers of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui last night, are still in the market for new talent, with a forward thought to be on high on their transfer wish-list following the injury to Rasmus Hojlund.

As for Chelsea, Enzo Maresca is looking to bring in a goalscorer, having failed to sign Samu Omorodion from Atletico Madrid while negotiations with Napoli for Victor Osimhen have hit a stumbling block.

Toney could be an option for Man United and Chelsea, but Thomas Frank hopes to hold onto his prized asset and said he’d ‘be over the moon’ if he stayed at Brentford for the upcoming campaign.

“What I’m focusing on is that Ivan is a Brentford player, I’m very happy he’s here and if Ivan is here at the start of the season, I’ll be over the moon,” he said.

“I’ve said before we’re a selling club but what I know is Ivan is a player for us.”
