England are set to take on Spain in the final of Euro 2024.
Gareth Southgate will reportedly make one surprising change to his England starting XI for the Euro 2024 final clash against Spain.
On Sunday night, England will look to finally bring football home as they take on Spain at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.
Standing in their way will be Spain, who won the tournament back in 2008 and 2012.
Luis de la Fuente’s men head into the final as the slight favourites after winning all of their matches whilst playing some delightful football.
Meanwhile, England’s performances have been less convincing.
Ahead of the match, it was expected that Southgate will name the same starting XI as he did for the semi-final clash against the Netherlands.
However, as reported by Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph, who wrote on social media: “Breaking – Luke Shaw handed surprise start for England v Spain tonight. England had been expected to be unchanged but understand it will be Shaw in for Trippier.”
Shaw was a surprise pick in Southgate’s squad as he was recovering from an injury that has kept him out of action for Manchester United since February.
Speaking about Spain ahead of the final, England boss Southgate said: “They have won a few trophies. They are a bloody good side. Let’s pitch it right. We have got to be perfect to win this game and we will have to find everything that we have got from within us.
“We have got players who have played lots of big matches so they will know what is required on the night but in the next couple of days we have got to get perfectly prepared as it is such a quick turnaround.”
He added: “They would rightly be favourites for what they have done this tournament.
“They have been the best team. They have got a day longer and in the last three finals it has been quite significant, so we have got to get our recovery spot on. Tactically, we will have to be perfect as they are such a good side.”
