Furious Man Utd fans voice anger at 'crazy' transfer fee as talented player 'agrees' deal to leave

United fans are far from happy with the price tag.

Manchester United fans have been left furious with the club following an ‘agreement’ that will see one of their most promising players leave this summer.

Erik ten Hag has now entered his third season in charge at Old Trafford, as he looks to use the club’s surprising FA Cup success to carry momentum from an otherwise dull campaign.

United finished 8th last season in their worst-ever Premier League result and only managed to claw their way back into Europe through their cup win.

Despite the rather dull mood around United, they have managed to instill a bit of optimism with a decent showing in the Community Shield as well as an opening-day win against Fulham.

The signings of Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Light, Noussair Mazraoui, and Joshua Zirkzee have also excited supporters, but it’s the manner of the outgoings that continues to frustrate United fans.

According to The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, United have agreed to the sale of 22-year-old Facundo Pellistri to Panathinaikos for a deal worth €6m.

The Uruguay international joined the club back in 2020 for €9m and has since found it difficult to break into the squad on a consistent basis.

Pellistri featured for United 25 times, grabbing two assists but failing to find the net despite some promising cameo displays.

With just 611 minutes played over his four-season spell, it isn’t surprising to see him moving on, but the low-fee United are set to receive has not impressed fans.

Pellistri becomes the latest player to leave Old Trafford for no profit which has become a damning trend in the ‘post-Fergie’ era, and fans took to social media to vent their frustrations.

One fan wrote: “He’s a national starting winger that’s 22 and we get €6m, it’s crazy, we’re so bad with sales.”

Another added: “If he was a Chelsea or City player that’s at least 20m. Club is grounded and reputation is low. Roll on the good years ahead though, we’ll rise again.”

A third commented: “We made a loss. Unbelievable. How can City sell players like Delap for £20m and we get £5 million for Pellistri.”
