Fans spot Jarell Quansah's reaction on Liverpool bench after being hooked at half-time and it speaks volumes

Jarell Quansah was replaced at half-time.

Liverpool fans spotted Jarell Quansah’s reaction on the bench after he was hooked at half-time against Ipswich Town in their Premier League opener.

Liverpool opened their new season with a 2-0 victory at Ipswich on Saturday.

Diogo Jota broke the deadlock on the hour mark before Mohamed Salah doubled his side’s advantage five minutes later.

The Reds found their way after the break following a quiet display in the first-half as Ipswich had chances to score.

Liverpool’s goals came after Arne Slot made a change at the interval.

He replaced Quansah with Ibrahima Konate, with the English centre-back taking a place on the bench for the second-half.

Cameras panned to Quansah during the second-half and his reaction got Liverpool fans online talking.

They felt sorry for the young defender as he cut a dejected figure.

One X user wrote: “Injured? I thought he did okay…”

A second argued: “Great substitution. Quansah was struggling with playing from the back.”

A third joked: “That’s the look of a man who definitely owns himself in FPL. We feel you.”

It remains to be seen whether the substitution of Quansah was injury or tactic related.

The 21-year-old, who made 33 appearances across all competitions last season, was linked with a move away from the club this summer as Newcastle United were briefly linked with his services.

Despite the transfer speculation, Slot opted to start him ahead of Konate, who returned to the club late following his time away with France at Euro 2024.

Liverpool resume their league campaign next Sunday when they host Brentford.
