Fans notice what Kylian Mbappe did to Jan Vertonghen after France goal vs Belgium

Fans aren’t impressed with Mbappe.

Fans have noticed what Kylian Mbappe did to Jan Vertonghen seconds after the Belgian defender scored an own-goal against France.

France and Belgium met in the round-of-16 of Euro 2024 on Monday, and the game looked destined for extra-time with neither side able to break the deadlock.

However, France were handed a stroke of luck when Randal Kolo Muani’s 85th minute effort deflected off Belgium centre-back Vertonghen and past goalkeeper Koen Casteels.

The moment was painful enough for the 37-year-old former Tottenham man, but things got even worse.

Replays showed France star Mbappe taunting Vertonghen as he ran to celebrate with his teammates, a continuation of a disagreement that happened earlier in the match.

In the second half Mbappe took a tumble inside the penalty area under challenge, and the Belgium defenders were not happy with his theatrics.

Vertonghen said something to the Mbappe, and the 25-year-old reacted furiously. The pair continued sniping at each other until the referee came to intervene.

Fans noticed Mbappe taunting a distraught Vertonghen and they were less than impressed.

“Complete lack of class from Mbappe. Rightly called out for diving, then spends half hour sulking about it. Then gives it large to Vertonghen,” one fan posted on X.

Another commented: “Mbappe offers nothing all game, then dives, Vertonghen calls it what it is. So Mbappe celebrates in Vertonghen’s face when his teammate scores a fluky deflection. What a sausage.”

A third fan wrote: “How’s Mbappe gonna taunt Vertonghen when he was more devastating in front of goal than Mbappe was for f*** sake.”

France will face either Portugal or Slovenia in the quarter-finals in Hamburg on Friday.
